Five Easy Summer Recipes

I used to have a love/hate relationship with cooking. I enjoy it now, but when I was a young adult, cooking wasn’t my thing. My momma always cooked and we would have Sunday dinners at my parent’s home. During the summer months, my daddy would grill ribs, brisket, chicken, hot dogs and burgers. Momma would make potato salad, green beans and baked beans.

Before I had my children, I didn’t cook much during the summer months. I was always on the go and ate out a lot and attended many BBQ get togethers, many. Once the girls came, I had slowed down and had to cook. I wasn’t creative because I just didn’t have the time to get cook books and create the dinners from them, but I did start a recipe card file that I still have to this day.

Summer cooking around here is not an every night thing. I don’t like heating up my house and I don’t cook using the microwave. We use our microwave to warm up food and popcorn. I don’t want to spend a lot of money on eating out either, even though we do our share of that. I also wanted to offer an alternative to grilling, we know that’s the first option during the summer months. Here’s five recipes I found that are quick and easy to make:

Sometimes you want a hot meal that doesn’t require using the oven but pulling out that crockpot. I love using my crockpot, slow cooking meat makes it nice and tender.

I’ve made the shrimp boil and it was delicious. I plan on trying the others, using the crockpot is always an alternative to using your oven. Enjoy!

I am definitely going to try the slow cooker recipes. Don’t do much grilling now.

    1. I let my husband do all the grilling, I don’t like the smoke. Let me know how it goes. I appreciate your support Dawn.
